Alexandra Maurício, Co-Founder and General Director of Cascais Opera – International Vocal Competition, will take part in the 4th OLA Women’s Forum, Building Inclusive and Collective Leadership, taking place in Bogotá, Colombia, from 24 to 26 September 2026.
Organised by Ópera Latinoamérica (OLA), in partnership with the Centro Nacional de las Artes Delia Zapata Olivella and Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo, the Forum brings together cultural leaders and performing arts professionals from across the Ibero-American region to explore new perspectives on leadership, representation and participation in the cultural sector.
On 25 September, Alexandra Maurício will join Panel 1, What Does Female Leadership Mean?, alongside Benita Ferrero-Waldner, former European Commissioner for External Relations and European Neighbourhood Policy; Ana María Boada, Secretary of Culture and Sport of Bogotá; and Jenny Suárez, Deputy General Director of Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo. The discussion will be moderated by Paulina Ricciardi, Executive Director of OLA.
The programme looks beyond traditional models of leadership, opening up a broader conversation around collaborative and inclusive approaches, gender equality in the workplace, the visibility of women as composers, playwrights and directors, and new models of organisation and management within the performing arts.
The Forum will also feature the presentation of the Ibero-American edition of Abriendo el Telón, a tool developed to support the prevention, response and redress of gender-based violence in the performing arts.
Alongside her participation in the panel, Alexandra Maurício will attend the Forum throughout its three-day programme, taking part in its sessions, meetings and networking opportunities and contributing to an international exchange of experiences and perspectives across the OLA network.
Cascais Opera’s participation in the Forum reflects its continued engagement with OLA – Ópera Latinoamérica, of which it has been a member since 2024, and further strengthens the ties between the Portuguese competition and opera and cultural institutions across Latin America.
