Constança Melo participa como bolseira no Fórum Internacional da WFIMC na Lituânia

A soprano portuguesa Constança Melo, semifinalista da edição de 2026 do Cascais Ópera – Concurso Internacional de Canto, foi selecionada para participar como bolseira no WFIMC Forum 2026 – “Inspiring the Future”, um dos mais relevantes encontros dedicados ao futuro da música clássica e ao desenvolvimento da próxima geração de artistas.

Durante cinco dias, Constança Melo integra um grupo de 39 artistas selecionados entre 132 candidaturas de todo o mundo, beneficiando de uma bolsa que inclui viagem, alojamento e participação integral no Fórum. Ao longo do evento, os participantes terão a oportunidade de atuar em concerto, estabelecer contactos profissionais, trocar experiências com colegas de diferentes países e apresentar projetos artísticos perante profissionais de referência do setor. 

A participação da jovem soprano resulta de uma nomeação dos diretores artísticos do Cascais Ópera, reforçando o compromisso do concurso com a criação de oportunidades concretas de desenvolvimento profissional para os seus participantes, para além do contexto competitivo.

Workshop Hyung-Ki Joo – Stage Presence Lab

O Fórum é promovido pela World Federation of International Music Competitions (WFIMC), uma rede que reúne mais de 120 dos mais prestigiados concursos de música do mundo, da qual o Cascais Ópera é membro. Realizado anualmente, este encontro com profissionais do setor debate os desafios e oportunidades da música clássica, promovendo a partilha de conhecimento e a criação de redes de colaboração internacional. 

O programa de bolsas para jovens músicos constitui uma das iniciativas deste Fórum, procurando preparar a nova geração de artistas para a realidade profissional do setor. Para além das apresentações artísticas, os participantes têm acesso a sessões de mentoria, conferências, workshops e oportunidades de networking, desenvolvendo competências essenciais para a construção de uma carreira artística sustentável e internacional.

Ao longo das suas três edições, o Cascais Ópera tem-se afirmado como uma plataforma de descoberta, formação e projeção internacional de jovens cantores, estabelecendo ligações com algumas das mais importantes instituições e redes do panorama musical global.

Over the past three decades, primarily in London, Portugal and Amsterdam, Dr Jorge Balça
has developed a strong portfolio of work and a unique combination of skillsets – as a stage
director (of theatre, opera, and hybrid forms), a teacher and workshop leader, a presentation
skills, acting and creativity coach, and practice-based researcher. His work in all these
domains is distinguished by his commitment to and skill in making fantasy and invention
emerge from precise knowledge and training – and by his ability to inspire a similar alchemy
in his collaborators.

Classically trained as an actor and countertenor, he studied theatre directing in London and
Moscow, specialising in Shakespeare, techniques of adaptation, Meyerhold and commedia
dell’arte. Jorge also holds a PhD exploring the dramatic training of opera performers.
With a love for site-specific projects and collaborative forms, and an equal flair for comedy
and drama, his work is dramaturgically inventive, visually striking, and physically engaged.
He was the artistic director of Bloomsbury Opera and associate director of The Opera
Makers, both in London. In Portugal, he has recently directed L’Heure Espagnole and The
Turn of the Screw at Centro Cultural de Belém, and Don Giovanni and La Voix Humaine at
Festival de Ópera de Óbidos.

Jorge is committed to his work as a teacher, having taught at the Dutch National Opera
Academy, Morley College London, Universidade de Évora and other institutions. He
maintains an international coaching private practice and is the acting coach at the Neil
Semer Vocal Institute in Italy.
